The Meaning Of Flowers

Traditionally, flowers were used to communicate messages from their sender to their recipients. Certain flowers held meaning, and the meaning differed depending upon the color of the flower. Today, the language of flowers has changed, but you can be sure that the recipient always understands what you mean when you send a beautiful floral arrangement.

In Victorian times, roses were popular, but fewer varieties and colors were available. Pink roses symbolized friendship and sincerity. Red roses indicated love or passion. Red and white roses symbolized unity. White roses symbolized purity and yellow roses symbolized sorrow, infidelity or remembrance.

Carnations also had meanings of their own. Pink carnations symbolized gratitude. Red carnations symbolized love or passion. Striped carnations indicated refusal. White carnations were used in remembrance and yellow carnations were sent to cheer the recipient.

Other popular flowers held meanings as well. Azaleas were used to symbolize abundance. Baby's Breath, which is commonly used in floral arrangements and bouquets, indicated anticipation. Black-eyed Susans were meant to send encouragement to the recipient, and daisies symbolized innocence.

Today, there are a wide range of species, variations and colors that weren't available in Victorian times, but you can still send a clear message with flowers. Fresh flowers will always let someone know that you care. Usually, flowers are associated with a romantic relationship, but they're much more versatile than that.

Fresh flowers can brighten up a home, office or conference room. The smell of fragrant flowers can improve the mood of a sick friend and lend a personal touch to the office. Flowers can also let someone know that you recognize an accomplishment, remember a special day, or just want to give a lift to their day.

Whether you send flowers to honor a special occasion like Mother's Day, a birthday or an anniversary, or you send professionally arranged flowers just because you can, your recipient will enjoy a day-brightener like no other. If you can't decide what kind of flowers to send, consult a local Dallas, TX florist. A florist can help you choose an arrangement by color, cost or occasion.  Your florist can also help arrange out-of-town or international flower delivery.

Whichever flowers you decide to send, your message will be loud and clear when you send fresh flowers to a special friend or colleague.
